Decision about joining the All Saints Schools Trust
As you are aware over the last few months our Governing Body has been exploring the idea of establishing a formal partnership of local schools. A working group of Governors and Headteachers from three schools, (listed below,) have been investigating joining a multi academy trust and particularly the All Saints Schools Trust (ASST).
We would like to thank everyone for taking the time to come to consultation meetings and for returning questionnaires. After a thorough consultation and closely considering the views of parents, staff and stakeholders, the Governors have come to the view that joining the All Saints Schools Trust would be in the best interests of our schools.
This will enable our schools to strengthen an already existing local partnership for the benefit of all our pupils. We recognise that it is government policy that schools should become academies as part of Multi Academy Trusts and we are pleased that we have taken this decision into our own hands through consulting and finding the right Trust to join for our schools and pupils.
We are aiming to join the All Saints Schools Trust on 1 September 2018.
If you would like to know more, please take a look at the consultation document which has been published on our school website http://www.greatsmallschools.co.uk/joint-info/academy-consultation-1/
We have also regularly updated the consultation website with all the questions asked during our consultation: www.asst.org.uk
We hope you will share our excitement about this decision, which we really believe is in the long term best interests of our pupils.

Preliminary Consideration: Multi Academy Trust Status
The Governing Bodies of Charsfield Church of England VC Primary, Dennington Church of England VC Primary and Occold Primary Schools, have been investigating the benefits of joining a Multi-Academy Trust. A working group of Governors and Headteachers from our schools have been investigating joining the All Saints Schools Trust which is comprised of the following 5 founding schools:
The appeal of this newly formed, local MAT, is that it would potentially enable our schools to strengthen an already existing local partnership for the benefit of all our pupils. We also recognise that it is government policy that schools should become academies as part of Multi Academy Trusts. So, we want to retain control of the school’s future by making a carefully considered decision at the right time.
The Governors have come to the view that joining All Saints Schools Trust would be in the best interests of our school. However, we want to consult with parents, carers, staff and our wider school community to make sure we understand your views.
Therefore, we will be launching a formal consultation starting on Wednesday 18th of April 2018. The consultation will run for four weeks. We will provide information explaining the reasons for and benefits of joining the MAT, as well as information on its governance, leadership and management.
There will be a number of parent meetings (as below). Please note that parents from any school are welcome to attend any of the meetings.
Tuesday 8th May 2018
6.00pm Occold Primary School
Wednesday 9th May 2018
2.00pm Dennington CEVC Primary School
6.00pm Charsfield CEVC Primary School
We will also conduct an online survey (paper copies will be available on request) among parents, carers and staff. The
survey will go live after the meetings.
More information and frequently asked questions can be found at: http://asst.org.uk/consultation
We want to emphasise that no final decision has been made and it is very much a genuine consultation. The Governing Body will consider the outcome of the consultation at the end of May before making a final decision.
